Description

The Resideo Z5SWPID is a plug-in smart switch that communicates across a Z-Wave Plus network. The device is easy to use. Just plug it into a standard outlet, then connect a lamp to the Z-Wave outlet. Once you pair it with your Z-Wave network, you can control your lamp from virtually anywhere.

Plug-in modules like the Z5SWPID are very convenient devices. There is no wiring involved, so really anyone can set them up. For best results, try using the device with a Z-Wave Plus controller. This will give the device the best possible range. Make sure you clear the device before attempting to pair it with the network. A plug-in module will also make a great repeater for other Z-Wave devices if you find that you are experiencing range issues.

Although the Z5SWPID was built for use with Resideo Alarm Systems, you should have no problem using it with virtually any Z-Wave controller.

Mobile Control

Both TC2 and ADC offer convenient mobile apps for remote control from pretty much anywhere. You can even pair the module with smart scenes for automatic operation based on a schedule or with certain system events. And both of these platforms offer excellent integrations with smart home voice assistants like Amazon Alexa for added flexibility in how you control your lights.

Tips

There are a few things to keep in mind when using the Z5SWPID. The most important thing is that you should never exceed the maximum allowed load. This load is 1800W or 15A. Alternatively, it can support a 1/2 HP motor, or 600W for incandescent bulbs. The device is compatible with both CFL and LED lights. It has a manual ON/OFF switch for your convenience. There is also a pass-through “non-Z-Wave” outlet for another device.
