The T6 Z-Wave Thermostat is controllable by all Z-Wave compliant controllers that have the control capability for “thermostat” devices. When integrated with the app that controls your Z-Wave controller (including Resideo’s Total Connect), the T6 lets you program and control your home’s HVAC system.

Because the thermostat can be battery-powered, low-voltage integrators can easily connect the thermostat to most HVAC systems. Optional 24 VAC power via “C” or common wire available.

Features:

  • Flexible Power – Common wire (C-wire) NOT required. Use three AA batteries, hardwired or both
  • Improve Efficiency – Energy savings with onboard or cloud scheduling to maximize heating and cooling 24 hours a day; remote control temperature settings
  • Cyber secure – Fully encrypted with the latest Z-Wave 5.0 chipset encryption

The Honeywell T6 Z-Wave Thermostat was originally branded as the Lyric T6 Pro Z-Wave thermostat. To avoid confusion with the Lyric alarm system lineup, Honeywell decided to simplify. The T6 Z-Wave is an excellent choice for almost any HVAC installation, ranging from residential to commercial environments.

Although there are several options when it comes to smart thermostats, the T6 Z-Wave is the ideal Z-Wave thermostat for those without common power (aka C-wire). Honeywell was able to engineer this device to function effectively on battery power. If there is a C-wire (generally 24VAC from the HVAC equipment), the thermostat will operate as a “routing slave” node on your Z-Wave mesh network. This means that it will have the ability to “route”, or allow, another Z-Wave device or “node” to “hop” through it as it repeats the signal back to the controller. Z-wave networks support up to 4 of these “hops.” For those familiar with Z-Wave technology, battery powered devices do not support this hopping feature. That means if the T6 is used on battery mode, it will not support the hopping function. Plan your network topology accordingly to ensure that your other AC-Powered routing/hopping devices are strategically located.

This thermostat has a simple, clean UI that allows basic heating and cooling control, as well as other specialized functions. The initial setup is a breeze compared with some of the other smart thermostats on the market, and we have been impressed with the Z-Wave reliability. The T6 will integrate with most Z-Wave controllers, and we have already tested it with the Honeywell Lyric Controller running the latest firmware at the time of release. The flexibility that this thermostat offers in terms of its ability to operate without a C-wire, along with its ability to reliably integrate with Alarm.com or Total Connect 2.0 via Z-Wave, makes it our favorite smart thermostat to date!

Note: If you pair the T6 Thermostat with a system that uses an interactive automation platform like TC2 or ADC, then you will no longer be able to set permanent holds locally at the thermostat.
